La Catedral de Sevilla

The Cathedral of Seville, or La Catedral de Santa María de la Sede, is the third largest church in the world, after St. Peters Basilica in Italy, and Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida in Italy. It was completed in the 1500’s on the sight of a former Moorish mosque. Several parts of the mosque were used in the structure of the new cathedral, including a minaret tower, which was converted into a bell tower, known as La Giralda. It is the highest point in central Seville, and offers a wonderful view of the architecture of the Cathedral as well as the layout of the city of Sevile.
